Dr. Isaac Burnett, Jr.

Dr. Isaac Burnett, Jr. was born January 10, 1943 in Roper, NC to the late Mr. Isaac Burnett and Fannie Burnett.  He is the fifth child of twelve children.

He received his public education from Washington County Union High School in Roper, NC and his formal education from North Carolina A & T State University in Greensboro, NC, where he received a B.S. and M.S. degree in Science Education. In 1999, Pastor Burnett completed his Doctor of Pastoral Studies from The Christian Bible College and Seminary in Independence, Missouri. 

In 1974, he married the former Miss Joyce L. Kinsey of Kinston and they have four children:  Isaac Antonio, Christopher Earl, Maurice Donta and Kimberly Irene.

In 1975, God called him into the ministry and he preached his first sermon on February 8, 1976 at St. Matthew FWB Chuch in LaGrange, NC.  In 1977, he was elected pastor of Central Heights FWB Church, where he is presently serving.

In 1976, Dr. Burnett was appointed Assistant District Elder of District 2 NWB Annual Conference and in 1999, he was appointed the District Elder of District 2, which is made up of 12 churches. He is serving in that position today.  He is the chairman of the Examination Committee for preacher license and Chairman District Elders of the 5 districts in NWB Conference.  He serves as a board member of the United American Free Will Baptist Denomination Inc. and he is a member of NWB scholarship committee along with a host of other positions.

He is only the 2nd pastor at Central Heights and he has been serving God and the congregation faithfully, since 1977.  When he gets ready to preach, he will ask the congregation a question:  “What time is it?”  The congregational response is “It’s Good News time” and he will state that “God’s Word is Good News in a bad news world.”
